MACHINING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD
Based on the flow work on the intake manifold, it is evident that the two end carburetor flange openings need to be enlarged & blended into the main runner.
We accomplished this by boring the openings to 1.625” & hand blending.
The end result with
the two end openings bored to 1.625” and the Stromberg adaptors supplied by
Charlie Yapp installed is that the manifold now flows the same with two openings
as it originally did with all three flanges open!
This allows us to use two of the new Stromberg 97 carburetors on this engine.
Our next step is to look at the valve train geometry &
pushrod length.
