HIGH PERFORMANCE MODEL A FORD SEMINAR
ON MARCH 15th, 2003, PIRANIOS ANTIQUE AUTOMOTIVE PRESENTED THE HIGH PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP FOR THE MODEL A FORD.
WE PRESENTED DISPLAYS OF VARIOUS HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINES & COMPONENTS. DENNIS & BETH PIRANIO & EMPLOYEES JEFF FAGALA, JACK TWOHIG, & A HOST OF HELPERS EXPLAINED THE DESIGNS & FUNCTIONS OF THE ENGINES & COMPONENTS.
THERE WAS A SPECIAL EVENT CONDUCTED AT THE END OF THE SEMINAR. A MODEL A ENGINE HAD BEEN CONSTRUCTED FROM PARTS DISCARDED DURING THE CONSTRUCTION OF CUSTOMERS ENGINES OVER THE YEARS.
THIS ENGINE WAS RUN WITHOUT WATER UNTIL IT SIEZED UP.
MANY DOOR PRIZES WERE AWARDED DURING THE SEMINAR TOPPED OFF BY THE GRAND PRIZE, A NEW BRUMFIELD 5.9-1 HIGH COMPRESSION CYLINDER HEAD.
THE BRUMFIELD HEAD WAS AWARDED TO THE PERSON THAT MADE THE CLOSEST GUESS OF HOW LONG "THE BOMB" MODEL A ENGINE WOULD RUN.

ON NOVEMBER 16th, 2013, PIRANIOS ANTIQUE AUTOMOTIVE PRESENTED THE HIGH PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP FOR THE FIRST MODEL A FORD GASOLINE FLATHEAD COUPE TO EXCEED THE 100 MPH BARRIER AT THE BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS.
DURING THE AUGUST 2013 SCTA SPEEDWEEK AT THE BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS, WE AT PIRANIO'S ANTIQUE AUTOMOTIVE BECAME THE FIRST GASOLINE FLATHEAD MODEL A FORD ENGINE POWERED MODEL A COUPE TO EXCEED THE 100 MPH BARRIER!
DURING THIS SEMINAR WE SHOWED & DISCUSSED WHAT IS REQUIRED TO DEVELOP AND CONSTRUCT THIS TYPE OF RACING AUTOMOBILE. WE HAD THE CAR ON DISPLAY & ALL ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN COMPONENTS LAID OUT FOR ALL TO SEE.
CRAIG ARDEN (ENGINEER & DRIVER OF THE CAR) PRODUCED A POWER POINT PROGRAM CULMINATING WITH THE ON BOARD VIDEO OF THE 100 MPH RUN.
AFTER THE PROGRAM, WE STARTED THE ENGINE IN THE COUPE FOR ALL TO HEAR WHAT A 162 HORSEPOWER MODEL A ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE!
LUNCH WAS SERVED AT THE END & ALL HAD A VERY GOOD TIME.
