Roof 101 intake manifold flow results
& recommendations
This first flow test
is with the intake manifold installed on the cylinder head, all three
carburetor flanges open.
The result of this flow test shows the manifold slightly increases the intake flow at lower valve lift while slightly decreasing the flow at higher valve lift. This result is typical of most intake manifolds.
The second flow test
is with only the center carburetor flange open, the end flanges are blocked
off.
The result of this flow test shows the manifold greatly decreasing the intake flow at all valve lifts. If only one carburetor is to be used, modifications need to be performed on this manifold. Perhaps making a plenum chamber and different mounting flange for the carburetor.
The third flow test is with the two end flanges open and the center
flange blocked off.
The result of this flow test shows that using two carburetors such as Strombergs or Holleys will deliver good power, however still not matching the potential of using all three carburetor openings.
My recommendation is to use multiple
carburetors (either 2 or 3) with this manifold.
